Letter From the President Last month I attended the 16th Annual Perinatal Partnership Conference in Greensboro along with other SCPA members. It was great seeing familiar faces, networking with our North Carolina colleagues, and catching up on the latest in perinatal health. I am always proud of this conference as a participant and as a member of SCPA. Each year I am amazed at the list of distinguished speakers and their cut-ting-edge topics. The 2009 conference was no exception as the agenda was filled with great speakers and topics. A big Thank You to the planning committee. This year’s conference was more chal-lenging to plan and to coordinate than in years past as no one could predict the impact the economy would have on the number of registrations. Fortu-nately the conference was well at-tended and was a huge success. Many SCPA members were able to attend because of conference scholarships. This was made possible through the vision and foresight of your SCPA Board. Their goal of supporting the SCPA membership in meeting educa-tional needs has and will be a priority. We are each day reminded that we need to spend wisely. Your $35.00 membership dues is one of the best bargains around! Your membership allows you to attend two free educa-tional cafés within your region and at the same time network with peers on current perinatal issues. Also, your Board is hopeful that we will be able to continue to extend to members conference scholarships to the 2010 annual conference. The 2010 conference will be held September 26-28 in Myrtle Beach. So mark your 2010 calendar and check to make certain your SCPA member-ship is current. Invite your colleagues to join SCPA! Together we can ad-vance perinatal health for all South Carolina mothers and infants. Mary Mathes ,SCPA President |
