2011 Walk Details
Low Country Event Schedule
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM
On-site registration opens. Banner table is now open so participants can sign the banner, take photos. Also, T-shirts, memory stones and medallions are now available for purchase at the Portico area of MUSC Horseshoe.
3:00 PM Group gathers around the Portico area and the Program begins with introduction, presentation of "Hunter's Law", reading of babies’ names, songs, poem and instructions for the walk.
3:10 PM Group gathers behind the banner, with police escort, to walk out across Ashley Avenue to Doughty Street and then down Rutledge Avenue to Colonial Lake.
3:30 PM Event continues at the lake with poems, songs and release of birds across the lake.
4:00 PM Program concludes. Complimentary refreshments will be served after the conclusion of the service.
Registration
You should register on the day of the walk to have your child's name read at the event. There is no registration cost. The only charges would be for the cost of any t-shirts or medallions you wish to purchase. Shirt quantities on the day of the walk are limited and we must sell them on a first come first serve basis. Please arrive early if you have a number of shirts that you wish to buy. Cash or check are accepted for all purchases on the day of the walk.
DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Colonial Lake is located 0.7 mile or approximately 7 blocks from MUSC. Family members unable to walk the event may wish to meet their group for the closing services at Colonial Lake. Limited on-site parking is available at the lake. Parking for those planning to walk is available across from the Horseshoe area of the hospital in the Ashley-Rutledge Garage (6'8" clearance - Entrances on both Ashley and Rutledge Avenues). Garage parking for this event is FREE with sticker provided by us @ the walk, otherwise parking is $.75 per half hour. Directions to the garage are available.
